Stressed?

Mmmmm... fine desserts! My mouth waters just reading this menu, because I've tried some of them. Now that my taste buds have experienced them I can't help but salivate just reading the names.

Insomnia Loves Artists, too.

These two young artists left a wonderful piece of art at Insomnia Coffee Company. "The best coffee" it says at the bottom. I'm amazed at how many times I've already heard that about Insomnia Coffee. One older gentleman, a coffee aficionado who has traveled around the world, said he has never tasted better coffee anywhere.

Everyone is an artist, some just don't know it. You can find some drawing pads, crayons, and colored pencils on the game and book shelves at the rear of the coffee house.

cold...cold...COLD!

Insomnia Coffee Company is ready for the warmer weather. Of course they have the usual iced coffees and teas. Then there is Vitamin Water, apple juice, and orange juice. But Insomnia has some special cold drinks ready for summer. Here are three:

~Summer Eclipse~ A refreshing spin on your average iced tea.

~The Gorilla~ Blended dark chocolate mocha with real banana.

~Tahitian Vanilla Latte~ A delicious blended vanilla latte.

There are more, and as always with Insomnia, more to come.

Blues this Saturday

Hillsboro could sure use a shot of the blues, and Don Haupt is the artist who can deliver it. He'll be on stage at Insomnia Coffee Company from 9pm. If you're a blues fan, you may already know Don. If not, this is your chance to get acquainted with some fine work.

His music speaks for itself, but I'll let Don's explanation from his MySpace site give you a clue:

Foot-stompin', guitar smackin', screamin' and hollerin' delta blues. No froofy singer-songwriter tearjerkers thrown in between tracks....just blues. Some folks calls it roots blues, some calls it folk blues, some calls it delta blues, but everybody calls it blues. Done old school like it should be, one man and an acoustic guitar.

Could'na said it better myself. Be there for a great time. Saturday, June 2nd 9pm.

“I merely took the energy it takes to pout and wrote some blues.”

Insomnia Coffee Company was packed Saturday night with Jesse Bray and his band playing a mix of folk/rock/country tunes. Music, drinks, and treats were enjoyed by all.

Dick, Evan, and Ali

Dick Kutch showed up to play Friday evening to kick off the Memorial Day weekend, and Evan joined him onstage to open. Ali O'Day then joined Dick for some classic vocals. Dick is scheduled to return June 22nd, and Ali is also planning on returning in the future.

“One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there, and the harmony is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault.” - source unknown

Weekend Plans?

Memorial Day is this coming Monday. If you are one of the many who have chosen to stay in town, Insomnia Coffee Company is planning on being open until noon. Stop in for a visit. All the usual drinks, treats, and games are available, and it's not a bad place to sit and think or share what the day is about.

Scrapper

Amy has put together a neat scrapbook of photos from way before Insomnia Coffee Company opened up to the present. Check it out in the coffee house - it's really cool, and it's full of pictures you haven't seen on this blog.

QUILTS!

Becky and her friends, the Blocksmith Quilt Group, met at Insomnia Coffee Company Monday evening. Amy was very kind to stay open after hours for them, especially since she wasn't expecting them until next week. The quilts these gals come up with are amazing.

Quilting with a friend will keep you in stitches.

For those of you who don't visit Insomnia Coffee Company at MySpace, here's a recent post from an Insomnia Coffee lover. Does anyone have a larger tower of cups saved up?
